By Nicki Pedersen
Nicki Pedersen's autobiography tells the story of an extraordinary boy who grew up with a passion for speedway racing and went on to become the Danish and three times World Champion. From his early days riding on the back of his father's bike to his first race at the age of 12, Nicki's story is one of determination, passion, and success.
Along the way, Nicki has faced numerous challenges, including a serious crash in 2007 that left him with a broken back. But through it all, he has never given up on his dream of becoming the best speedway rider in the world.
Raw Speed is an inspiring and motivating story of one man's journey from obscurity to greatness. It is a must-read for any fan of speedway racing or anyone who loves a good underdog story.
Excerpt from Raw Speed:
I was born in Odense, Denmark, on November 8, 1977. My father, Ove, was a speedway rider, and I grew up around the sport. I remember going to the races with him as a kid and being fascinated by the bikes and the riders. I wanted to be just like them.
When I was 12 years old, I finally got my own bike and started racing. I wasn't very good at first, but I loved it and I kept practicing. By the time I was 16, I was winning races and getting noticed by the top teams in Denmark.
In 1997, I signed with the Holsted Tigers, one of the best teams in the Danish league. I had a great season, winning several races and helping the Tigers win the league championship. My performance that year earned me a spot on the Danish national team.
I made my World Championship debut in 2000, and I finished in the top 10. I continued to improve in the years that followed, and in 2003, I won my first World Championship. I won two more World Championships in 2007 and 2008, and I also won the Danish Championship five times.
My career has been a roller coaster ride, but I've never given up on my dream of becoming the best speedway rider in the world. I've faced many challenges along the way, but I've always believed in myself. I'm proud of what I've accomplished, and I'm excited about what the future holds.
